A major update has been released for SpinChimp. The update has more than 40 changes including new features, enhanced usability and bug resolutions. This release specifically adds a brand new feature called Parts of Speech (POS). With POS, one button spinning is closer than ever.

The following video explains some of the new features…

Due to a limitation in the previous release we were not able to add the new synonyms until now.
  • Our new Profile View (found within the View ribbon) allows spun and original text to be displayed copied or saved. This is a great time saver for those who want to copy the processed spin into the clipboard instead of exporting it to disk first.
  • Original view pane added showing location of text within original spin.
  • Custom or predefined CSS support within the browser view.
  • Quick spin groups automatically group together synonyms with like parts of speech and quality, allowing a single click to add multiple synonyms.
  • Text may now be protected from global spin by delimiting it with ##.
  • Global spin may be applied to selected text.
  • Add deactivate license option to help menu allowing the license to be transfered between different computers.
  • Quick save spun copy added to file menu.
  • WordPress submissions can now include scheduled offset on a per site basis allowing articles to be progressively published.
  • Document autosave feature allows documents to be automatically saved at regular intervals.
  • Microsoft Word 97-2003 doc files can now be directly loaded into SpinChimp.

The following usability enhancements have been implemented:

  • Sentence spin now automatically determines whether the sentence terminator should be inside or outside of the spin. If the sentence spin does not end with a sentence terminator, the original terminator is automatically moved outside of the spin.
  • SpinChimp now supports ultra-spinnables. This improvement was made as the result of various optimizations resulting in a much faster user experience.
  • Coloring, synonym identification and other background activities have been optimized to support large text files.
  • Tasks such as text statistics, coloring, spin %, word density and so on have been pushed to a background task removing slight hangs that may occur on slow computers.
  • Non-English languages are now supported within the editor and synonym database.

  • Options moved from Options tab to a new form within the file menu. Many new options have been added making SpinChimp highly configurable.
  • Word density calculation now works on phrases.
  • Find and replace now remembers all search terms entered into either form.
  • Replace now replaces only words within the selected text. If no text is selected, replace works on the entire document.
  • Quick Spin and the context menu now both contain an option for adding blank spin to the selected word, thus making the work optional.
  • Copyscape report now contains an excerpt of the duplicate article showing matched and unmatched words. The report also contains a more accurate match percentage.

    SpinChimp v1.2.4056 Released

    Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

A minor update has been released for SpinChimp. The update addresses several minor usability issues and bug fixes.

The following features have been added to SpinChimp:

    • Added comprehensive file logging capabilities. All WordPress submission actions, Copyscape checks, and document exports are now logged to a XML file. By default, the log files will only grow to 100KB in size, where upon the oldest data is deleted to maintain file size. The logger can be turned off or the file size increased by modifying the settings.xml file. See the user manual for more details.
    • Added an option to settings.xml to temporarily disable thesaurus subscription. This can be used during the evaluation period to assist with determining whether to cancel subscription to the online database.

The following bugs have been resolved:

    • Re-rendered the user manual as the PDF file was not being displayed on some systems.
    • Rectified a fault that caused the editor to crash if the end brace was deleted. This fault was introduced with the auto brace highlight feature.

QuickSpin SpinAll and ReplaceAll functions were re-written to address the following issues:

    • The application locked up if using SpinAll on the last word in the document.
    • Case matching didn’t work in all cases.
    • Removing spin often caused the selection to highlight too many or not enough characters after the operation was completed.
    • ReplaceAll sometimes initiated a double replacement if replacing a word with multiple words containing the original word. For example, if you ReplaceAll “there” with “generally there”, you may end up with “generally generally there”

The update is not mandatory however it is recommended that this update be applied as soon as possible.

Note that new users will not need to update as all patches are rolled into the latest version available via the download page.

    SpinChimp v1.1.0 Released

    Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

A significant update has been released for SpinChimp. The update adds several new features and addresses many usability issues.

The following features have been added to SpinChimp:

    • Added ability to view original and spun text as: text, raw html or browser view. In browser view, the text will be displayed exactly as it would appear within a browser.
    • Added dynamic selection using CTRL and left mouse click. This will automatically select an entire sentence or a synonym replacement phrase depending upon the surrounding text. The selection is spin aware.
    • Added a “Match case” and “Find Whole Word” options to the find and replace forms.
    • The editor now includes automatic matching spin brace highlighting.
    • Added ability to identify multi word synonyms. The new “Identify multisyns” button will automatically identify synonym replacement phrases using a blue squiggly underline.
    • Installer now adds a video link and PDF help manual to the start menu.
    • User added synonyms can now include Unicode text, allowing multilingual replacements and special characters (for example left quote).
    • Added a “disable all coloring” option to enable auto syntax highlighting to be disabled on slow computers.
    • Double clicking the project field within the status bar now opens the project selection form.

The following usability issues have been addressed:

    • Add an “Are you sure?” prompt to forms if changes made and user cancels or presses exit before committing the change. Disable if warnings not enabled.
    • Tag import form should automatically close after import button is pressed.
    • Allow every column of each data grid to be resized. For example, in project manage form, keyword is not resizable.
    • Signatures don’t need a name. Remove the name field from the manage signatures form.
    • Tag manager to add column when hit enter in column textbox.
    • Fix license details form to remove ambiguity re subscription expiry.
    • Import CSV file to handle quotation marks. Allow imports containing separator character between quotes. Allow two successive quotes to be treated as a single quote.
    • Show currently selected option and selected color in option button tooltip text.
    • Exporting special characters to text or html does not work.

The following bugs have been resolved:

    • Sentence spin causes new sentences to incorrectly replace the very first sentence in the document.
    • After using the right arrow in rapid spin, the document loses its position and adds spin to the wrong place.
    • Rapid spin loses its place when you use quick spin to add a word in the middle. If you re click somewhere though after you click “Add”, it works.
    • Some ALT selection keys are duplicated on some ribbons.
    • Save As shortcut key (F12) doesn’t work. Replace with F9.
    • When using auto learn, SpinChimp should not learn words that are in the ALL project if all project is not selected.
    • When a new profile is created or a profile name renamed, the profile name does not update in the left list view until you close and reopen.
    • When ALL project selected, all manage forms should show words/sites/sigs etc from every project when selected. They should be greyed out if not in all project.
    • Spelling and synonym check form should not auto colour URLs in top textbox as this hides the selected word highlighting.
    • Profiles form to enable all spin syntax text boxes if set to 0 and spin type selected.
    • Tags can only be one word long, cannot start with a number. Don’t highlight if invalid and don’t allow a column to be added if invalid.
    • Fix license subscription from expiring whenever it can’t access the internet. This is an intermittent fault and does not always occur.
    • Current editor style is not correctly identified within the Style menu after SpinChimp is restarted.
    • Rapid spin forward button skips two sentences at a time.
    • Rapid and quick spin lists incorrectly highlight multiple entries if the only difference between the entries is the synonym case. For example, the and THE will both be highlighted.
    • Quickspin incorrectly removes deeper spin from selected synonyms.

The update is not mandatory however it is recommended that this update be applied as soon as possible.

Note that new users will not need to update as all patches are rolled into the latest version available via the download page.
